Career
Sixteen years, eight countries
I began in hotel distribution in Brazil, onboarding more than 200 partners in twelve months across an undeveloped territory for Travelocity, then at Booking.com as the top performing acquisition account manager for the Brazil office.
In 2012 I opened Brazil for hotel.info, later acquired by HRS, as the first hire on the ground. I built the client base to 800, grew the team to nine, established the commercial process, pricing rules, local entities and trade presence, and hired the first account managers for Buenos Aires and Mexico City. I also recruited the country manager who subsequently became my own line manager.
After an MBA at Birmingham Business School and a short engagement at Agoda, I joined Global Savings Group in 2017 as one of the first United Kingdom account managers, relocating to Amsterdam to build the market from a standing start. I became the company's top performing account manager and the United Kingdom went on to become its largest market.
I was promoted to Account Director in 2018, managing two of the company's largest ever accounts, then to Associate Commercial Director in March 2020, leading the United Kingdom market at the onset of the pandemic with up to seventeen people. Travel, the largest revenue category, disappeared. I reallocated the portfolio into home and living, electronics, gaming and fashion, held the United Kingdom as the top performing market company wide, delivered 10% revenue growth in 2020, and came through the year with near zero attrition.
From February 2023 I was Commercial Director at Atolls, formerly Global Savings Group, leading the combined commercial organisation after its merger with Pepper: six markets, four business units and 25 people. I left in July 2026 to work independently through my own company, NDC Ventures Ltd.
Results
What that produced
I took the six market organisation while it was contracting, with the first half of that first year down 11% year on year. By the fourth quarter, five of the six markets were growing double digits and the sixth had almost stopped falling. Combined commission grew 44% the following year and managed account gross merchandise value roughly doubled.
The strongest single market grew more than 150% in commission in one year, achieved by restructuring it under a neighbouring team rather than building a separate local operation. A market that had declined 19% the previous year was rebuilt and grew 93%.
In 2015 I advised the board of a London serviced apartments group on digitising its global offering, on a paid consulting engagement. The chief executive attributed a 10% revenue increase to the work in writing.
Scope
Markets, sectors and functions
Markets operated in: the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
Sectors: retail and consumer brands, ecommerce and marketplaces, technology and platforms, performance marketing and adtech, travel and hospitality, digital media and publishing, and subscription businesses.
Commercial functions led: affiliate marketing, retail media, media sales, programmatic advertising, cost per click networks, subscriptions, marketplace commercialisation, key account management and partnerships.
Cross functional: I have spent years as the person who gets commercial working with product, editorial, marketing, finance and data, which is where a surprising proportion of commercial problems actually live.
Approach
How I work
I work embedded by preference: inside the team, accountable for the result, close enough to the detail to change how things actually get done. In practice that usually means an interim commercial director engagement. Some companies want an advisor alongside their own leadership instead, and I work that way too.
The sequence is fixed even when the situation is not. Establish ground truth before changing anything. Make performance visible before trying to improve it. Restore whatever commercial motion has stopped. Engineer one visible win early. Then build the system, and only then the culture. Every engagement ends with a written handover and a successor who can run it.
The underlying view is that underperformance is almost never a missing strategy. It is a motion that quietly stopped inside a business that can no longer see itself. Strategy is the fifth thing, not the first.
On numbers
What I will and will not publish
The percentages on this site are mine and they are accurate. What you will not find anywhere on it is a former employer's revenue, commission or client figures, because those are theirs and not mine to put on the open web.
What I can tell you is the shape and the scale of what I ran: four business units, six markets, twenty five people, a commercial P&L in the tens of millions, and a business that was contracting when I arrived. The detail underneath that I am happy to go through properly on a call.
You are considering handing someone your numbers. It is worth knowing in advance what they do with other people's.
